I see perhaps 0.05 percent of growth in Nepal, when they fix a broken section of a pavement I go, at least they did that! Our tolerance lately has been so high and we are so tired of fighting that we accepted our reality. you either leave the country or suffer. What a devastating thought to have and yet that's what most of us think about while we stuff ourselves in our tempos, micros and yatayats.
I see people hustling everyday, going to work, street shops selling their products and people buying. New restaurants popping up left and right, people eating there, new shops with shoppers everywhere. Yet there is no development, it only gets harder. How is this possible? We have so many of our people sending money from abroad and people pay taxes every month. Yet, when it comes down to get the benefit, we get next to nothing. Not even when the entire nation is suffering.
Through out the country, basic right to eat, to have clean and abundant water, electricity , warm clothes, travel without risking your life is missing! why is this taken so lightly? Why do we get accustomed to such things so easily? Why do we act like we do not deserve to live an easy life?
I was in a very crowded micro bus yesterday, nothing new here. I felt so sick of being being stuffed
but I was happy! at least I got a seat. At least quater of my buttocks made contact with what may appear to be a seat or someones hand I am not looking, I don't want to know. Amidst all of this there was an old lady, frustrated and mad. She was having to stand in a crowed micro and it was hard. I got her, but she got angrier. Then she said "Yo madhise haru lai ta marnu parne."
There are two things wrong with this:
1. If you go to a restaurant, you cannot expect your race to pay for it. Quiet similar to the fact that
you cannot blame an entire region for a few who are motivated and corrupted by money.
2. How does killing ever and I mean ever solve anything?
What is wrong with our tolerance level?

Why are we so tolerant?
We are tired, just tired. But we need to stop before humanity is killed in Nepal. We need to ask for what we deserve which is safety, food and comfort. Start asking questions.
Yes, the harsh reality. Nepalese are one of the most tolerant citizens. We find ways to live with 4 hours of electricity a day, yet feel thankful.
ReplyDeleteThe people of Nepal are gold, they just need to start thinking instead of following now.
DeleteYES. THIS IS GOLD!! adapting to circumstances is a great virtue to have, but we should never be satisfied if we can pursue for something better. And in Nepal there is obviously a lot of room for improvement.
ReplyDeleteThanks! room for lots of improvement here is hoping it happens!
Delete"we are so tired of fighting that we accepted our reality"- Its true, our grandparents and parents have accepted the reality. Not us. Good article :)
ReplyDeletesad reality right raneej?
DeleteFine chances of next revolution would start for food and god knows if we might even need suffer with North Koreans did due to Famine a decade back.
ReplyDeleteWorld is a Nasty Place when you choose the Wrong Leader but even Nastier when the best we could choose turn their back once they reach in Power.
I agree I think things can still get better, here is hoping and doing what we can to force people to think and not blindly follow our "leaders".
